About Micro Sclerotherapy

Micro Sclerotherapy is a procedure where a liquid sclerosant is injected into spider and reticular veins, causing them to close and be absorbed by the body. It’s the gold standard for treating spider veins globally, and we exclusively use this method. Our protocols are tailored to individual vein characteristics, ensuring optimal results. Larger varicose veins are treated with alternative methods like radiofrequency ablation. After treatment, compression stockings are worn to enhance results. It’s important to note that new veins may form over time and may require further treatment.

What to Expect

Micro Sclerotherapy involves the use of tiny needles to inject a solution into targeted veins, guided by a skin-illuminating device to locate feeder veins for more effective treatment. The procedure is quick, minimally invasive, and takes about 10-30 minutes. You’ll need to wear short pants for the procedure and loose clothing afterward. Most patients enjoy many years of clear legs, although ongoing care may be necessary for some individuals due to personal biology or life events like pregnancy.

Preparation & Recovery

Before treatment, avoid blood thinners, anti-inflammatories, and tanning. Shaving or waxing should be done a few days in advance. Afterward, daily walking is encouraged, and compression stockings are provided to improve results. Avoid strenuous activity, heavy lifting, and hot baths for two days. Sclerotherapy is a gradual process, similar to dental care, where occasional maintenance treatments may be required to maintain the results.

Foam vs. Micro Sclerotherapy

Foam sclerotherapy is used for larger veins, mixing sclerosant with air, while cosmetic sclerotherapy uses a liquid sclerosant for spider and small reticular veins. We strictly control the dose of the sclerosant to ensure the best outcomes for each patient.

Ideal Candidates

Men and women with spider or reticular veins are ideal candidates for cosmetic sclerotherapy. Pregnant or breastfeeding individuals should postpone treatment. Those with deep vein thrombosis (DVT) or allergies to sclerosant are not suitable candidates.

Risks & Safety

Micro Sclerotherapy is safe in expert hands, though mild side effects like swelling or pigmentation may occur. More serious complications, such as DVT, are rare. Matting (the formation of new fine veins) can happen if underlying vein issues are untreated. We ensure the best results by using only drugs indicated for vein treatment and do not use outdated solutions like salt or sugar water.
